Independent packaging manufacturer The Sherwood Group has invested £2m on finishing kit for its Nottingham manufacturing plant in response to significant growth within its packaging division.
In April the business installed an Eterna Efoil 1060 Elite foiling and embossing machine to meet an increased demand for high-end packaging. This has enabled the company to double its foiling capacity and deliver “exceptional quality” of finished products.
The group then installed an Ergosa C semi-automatic packer this month, and it is expecting a delivery of a new Bobst Expertfold 110 A3 later this summer to further boost its folding and gluing capacity and efficiency.
Richard Bacon, managing director at The Sherwood Group, said: “The investment has reinforced our commitment to the packaging market. We are looking to grow the business considerably over the next 12- 18 months and have further plans for expansion.”
Part of the £2m spend is a £600,000 investment into a new die-cutting and creasing machine. The Eterna Ecut 1060 Elite will complement Sherwood’s two existing die-cutting machines and is expected to arrive later this year.
Operations director Martin King said: “The addition of four new machines this year will double our capacity in key areas of production and significantly enhance our efficiency.
“The new Eterna hot foil stamper has already brought our foiling and embossing capabilities to a higher level in both quality and efficiency.”
The Sherwood Group has recently retained BRCGS ‘AA’ certification for the fourth consecutive year.
